SES Africa and ESMT Partnership:

This past month, satellite communications and utility leader: SES Africa, partnered with a the Multinational School of Telecommunications, or Ecole Supérieure Multinationale des Télécommunications (ESMT).

Based in the heart of Dakar, Senegal; ESMT has been instrumental at improving the satellite installation and telecommunications industry in Senegal over the past several years. Providing young and professional, quality training framework adapted to the needs of African businesses. The engineers trained at the school, which currently numbers 800 students, are immediately ready to work in field.

SES Elevate Lab and SES Elevate Training Launch:

SES Africa’s investment also included the creation an internet Hub for ESMT and will provide the institution with one year of free internet connectivity through its Astra 2G technology.

Uncapped and Unshapped internet connectivity across the institution will ensure students are able to undertake part of their training online and have access to the internet for additional information.

“SES has been working with ESMT through the SES ELEVATE programme for a number of years and to have it provided as a fixed course in the curriculum is a step in the right direction, as more installers will be equipped to support satellite and digital television migration in the country. We are committed to play our part in seeing digital migration come to fruition across the continent. To date, we have trained over 8 000 installers across Africa since the launch of the programme in 2012,” says Andy Anderson Head of Marketing at SES Africa.

The week of launch also included an exclusive SES Elevate training session, which included training in DTH Satellite installations with industry training leader: Neil Bellingham and VSAT training with sector expert: Darryl Haw. In total, over 158 student’s qualified as SES Elevate Installers.

The SES ELEVATE team has so far trained over 8,000 installers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Niger and South Africa and the number continues to grow across the continent.
