Huawei Joburg Day 2018 Review

Huawei Joburg Day 2018: Music Festival of the Year

My first official bow begins here with no cooler way to kick things off than chatting with you about the recent Huawei Joburg Day event.

Aside by Thabiso Moloi:

Just to put it out there, I’m an avid fan of just about everything under the sun namely (but not limited to); music, comic books, movies, and series. It’s quite a privilege to form part of the team at Milled who cater for, well, everything else (that’s cool) under the sun. I appreciate them for indulging both me and my sometimes weird but fun interests.

Huawei Joburg Day 2018:

For those of you who aren’t quite familiar with what Huawei Joburg Day is – first of all who are you and second, have you been hiding under a rock or something?

the perfect excuse for a family day out

Huawei Joburg Day is an annual event that consists of a variety of great live musical acts, enjoyed with your loved ones. Think of it as the perfect excuse for a family day out that can also easily lend itself as the perfect vibe with your mates, it’s that cool!

This year’s event took place this past Saturday at the Crocodile Creek Polo Club, Botasdal Farm in Lanseria, Johannesburg.

A Blockbuster Line-up:

The blockbuster lineup included something for everyone, from the latest hit-makers to Mzansi’s music royalty. The list consisted of Shekhinah (easily my favourite local female vocalist), The Parlotones, Riky Rick, Jeremy Loops, Mafikizolo, Goodluck, DJ Maphorisa, Lady Zamar, Goldfish, AKA, DJ Kent, Chrizz Beatz, Prince Kaybee and Gangs of Ballet.

Huawei Joburg Day: 20,000 Guests

If you are having FOMO right now then I wouldn’t blame you, I would be too if I missed this. The event lived up to expectation with a reported attendance of just over 20,000 people with most individuals coming through towards the latter parts, many making it in time to see what was (arguably) the highlight performer: AKA.

Huawei Joburg Day Not to be missed?

One wishes though that the sound could have been better especially for those far away from the stage; a minor issue that didn’t prevent it from being a beyond enjoyable experience.

I’m pretty sure there will be another installment next year, so do yourself a favor and be sure to book your place. My thanks go out to Huawei South Africa for the oh so cool invite.
